My paper discusses the history and reason behind the connection between science fiction and mind game films. The two genres have been intertwined pretty much since their inception, and these days many sci fi films (regardless of scale) incorporate mind game elements and vice versa. The two genres have a long history paralleling and interacting with each other, which I hoped researching would help me discover more about when and why this connection started, to illuminate why it still seems so essential. However, I didn’t want to spend the majority of my paper retelling film history in the 20th century. By including this timeline alongside my paper, I’ve been able to ensure that the reader will have the context they need to jump into my paper, even if they are unfamiliar with the films I discuss.
